Would you like to make your own minty mouthwash? If so, I am going to share with you a simple do-it-yourself minty mouth washroom which is alcohol and sugar-free.
When used regularly, it will be healing and antiseptic.
The following are the ingredients needed to make a 100ml (3.5fl oz):
- 100ml (3.5fl oz) mineral water
- 1 tbsp dried peppermint
- 1 drop peppermint essential oil
- 1 drop tea tree essential oil
- 1 drop myrrh essential oil
- 1 tsp table salt
- 1 tsp aloe vera juice
- 1 tsp glycerin
HOW TO MAKE
- Firstly is to make the infusion
by boiling the mineral water in a saucepan. You will then need to place the dried peppermint in a teapot or glass bowl and pour over the boiling water. Leave to steep for 10 minutes, then strain.
- In a separate bowl, add the essential oils to the salt. Pour over the warm infusion and allow the salt to dissolve and then follow by adding the aloe vera juice and glycerin.
- Pour into a sterilised bottle and leave to cool before placing a lid or atomiser
- Lastly, is to shake well before each use. You should store it in the fridge and keep for up to a week.
HOW TO APPLY
You may use the minty fresh mouthwash that you have made twice a day to rinse your mouth after brushing teeth. Do remember not to swallow.
You will find that the combination of peppermint infusion and peppermint essential oil give you a sharp menthol fragrance. Tea tree is used because it is highly antiseptic, while myrrh’s antiseptic can help you treat bad breath, sore gums, and mouth ulcers. Glycerin is used because it is sweet in taste and can act as a preservative yet unlike sugar it does not promote bacterial growth and plaque formation.
This healing and antiseptic minty fresh mouthwash is safe to be used for all in your family.
