As flu season arrives there is much that needs to be done to offset a lot of symptoms of the sickness and to actively fight it so we can get better. Before you can start it all you will need to know that getting better means doing a few things as part of the healing process, as well as focusing on home cleaning as part of what needs to be done:
You will need to stay hydrated as soon as the first symptoms arrive, so drink up a lot of water so your body can expel toxins released from the healing process.
Drink up hot tea and some nice, homemade broths. Hot liquids will help stimulate your immune system and with broths you will have food you can easily take in to boost it against the flu virus. Lemon juice and honey with hot water is also a good mix, as well as homemade chicken soup.
Having more vitamin C in your diet during that time is necessary, since the ascorbic acid form of it can really battle flu viruses and will work quite well, sometimes better than medications would. For your kids you can start with some 500mg chewable vitamins or you can use whatever your doctor recommends instead. Depending on the tolerance you may take in more, but the end results will be unpleasant, so you may want to dose it right.
You can also make use of oil of oregano for a powerful antibiotic and antiviral solution. Just drop a few drops in a glass of water every few hours or so and you’re good to go.
You can also make homemade elderberry syrup of your own. You can take a tablespoon for adults every hour and half a tablespoon for kids. It is similar to other syrups but can be made at home with relative ease.
Organic apple cider vinegar can be a great solution for vitamin C as well. Just add a tablespoon to about 8 ounces of water every three hours or so and you will have a chance to kill yeast in the body that feeds infections.
You should also work on removing the sugars and carbs from your diet during that time to prevent the worst of the infection. Soup and protein as well as veggies are a much better substitute during that time.
You will also need to take supplements to ensure your immune system is strong enough to stave off the infection that wants to take place. Although they will vary from person to person, the deficiencies in the food supply and the soil will be the main reasons. If you have a good and nutritional diet you will have to take fewer supplements.
Magnesium is one of the supplements you should consider however, as it is used in many reactions around the body from everything ranging from hormone production to cell regeneration and bone formation as well. Having good levels of magnesium in your blood will result in a lowered risk of many conditions due to it being an important nutrient as long as you don’t go too far with it.
Another thing worth mentioning is that your home cleaning needs to be done right. During that time it happens to be easy to forget about doing such chores, but the dust kicked in the air will only make flu symptoms worse, so you will need to make sure this never happens. Pay special attention to the floors, with carpet cleaning being a priority, but don’t underestimate the importance of upholstery cleaning as well. That way you will have a lot less dust kicked in the air and ending up in your system.
