It’s early in the year and everyone is working on their New Year’s Resolutions. One of the most popular resolutions every year is to lose weight. Gym memberships are sold left and right and next thing you know, all the treadmills are taken at your local gym. People ditch the fast food for fruits and veggies. People start the year motivated to eat better and to exercise more, but by February or March, that motivation begins to fade. It’s like constantly running but not going anywhere. Has this happened to anyone you know? Maybe you’re reading this and this paragraph hits close to home. Well let’s make this year different!
A couple of weeks back, Good Morning America announced 2018’s Wellness Trends: At-home workouts, moringa and alternative yogurts. Are these really worth trying? How will these help you as you try to conquer mastering weight management? Let’s find out!
- At-home workouts
Here are a couple of reasons why working out at home is better than the gym:
One of the best reasons to workout at home is privacy. It’s perfect if you don’t like working out in front of others. It’s perfect if you’re not exactly in the shape you’d like to be in. Your home can be your temple of fitness. It’s a great starting point and for some, the best gym membership they’ve ever had.
Avoiding Gym Rats.
I like working out at home because I get to avoid the obnoxious gym rats. You know those people at your local gym that love showing off how much they can lift. Yes, those people who make as much noise as possible to get everyone’s attention. Those people who want to compete with you even though you’re not interested in competing with them. Those who no longer need to go to the gym because their muscles have muscles. Yes, those gym rats.
Time and Money.
Life gets busy from time to time. We can’t always make it to the gym for this or that reason. Working out at home is an awesome solution. There are plenty YouTube videos out there to whip you into shape. This would save you money on hiring a personal trainer as well. At-home workouts are perfect for your wallet too. You can save money on the gym membership. You save time and money avoiding the drive to and from the gym. Life gets busy, It’s a win-win situation really.
One piece of advice I always share with my friends and family is to have a set time dedicated to working out, because it is so easy to lose focus at home. Make sure you let those you live with know that this time is sacred and to wait until after your workout is finished to socialize.
Moringa oleifera is known as “Nature’s Miracle Tree.” Moringa has been used for thousands of years. It is the perfect botanical. It is said it can fix a lot of the problems in nutrition we face today. It has 4 times the Calcium of milk, 4 times the Vitamin A of carrots, 7 times the Vitamin C of Oranges! The only struggle you’ll find with raw moringa is the taste. One route I’d take is maybe trying a commercial moringa product so you enjoy taking it everyday. One product I strongly recommend to all my friends and clients to start with is Zija SuperMix. It comes in sachets that easily dissolve into water and taste great. Benefits of moringa includes aiding in: healthy circulation, healthy digestion, anti-inflammatory support, increased energy, the list goes on and on!
The advice I can share with you about this product is that it can be combined with essential oils like lemon, lime or orange for customizable drinks! Versatility to the max!
- Alternative Yogurts
Alternative Yogurts refer to non-dairy yogurts. With the rise in lactose intolerance as a society, looking for non-dairy based products has gotten more important. What’s great is you have a variety to choose from!
Yogurts made from coconut milk, soy milk, almond milk, cashew milk, etc.
The best part is you don’t have to give up great taste for great nutrition! They come in different flavors, but more importantly contain protein and probiotics! If I were you, I’d do a little research on the different selection and milk it for what it’s worth. Try your local Trader Joe’s or favorite store (preferably health food store) and check out their inventory!
In conclusion, Good Morning America put together a great piece for us. Try them out! See how it works for you! Other than weight, what do you have to lose? Follow these steps, take the advice found in this article. Jot down your results, see how these make you and your body feel. Try your very best to stick to your resolution this year. Best of luck!
